A week of Holiday : Hari Raya

This is my last week of writing blogs. Who knows, I had the most fun week because I got to gather with all of my families. It was so exciting to meet them, cause we need to prepare for Raya before the day comes. After that, spend time together!

It is the day! It is the fun journey because we need to face the highest traffic jam that happens once a year. Like for my family, we departed at exactly 10:00 am and arrived in Penang at 6:30 pm, so it was 8 hours of driving without stopping because all of the rest places were packed with people. Moreover, since there is a political issue with the US and Iran, we have a bit of a hard time, cause we are driving a car that uses diesel. Then, it cost us twice the actual price since the issues happened, also we lost the budget for our petrol because it keeps increasing.

Moving to the preparation, this is an important part which is cooking. During Raya we want to serve good dishes because its specialty is rendang. This is also my first time helping in the kitchen, even though not much. I am amazed with the stove because we are not using the gas stove but we built our own using firewood and charcoal.

Later on at night, I and my cousins are going to the uptown, where the place sells lots of things. Just after we arrived, we found a Milo truck, which is our childhood chocolate drink. The taste is still the same! Then, we bought fireworks to play because we wanted that festive atmosphere before the Raya Day.

The day of Raya!!!

This year my family theme is yellow. I love the colour and it matches my fit. The whole day was exhausting because I am the family photographer that takes every picture. Whewww... I almost pass out but I love it too, I photograph every part of the memory. After that we need to line up and say sorry to each one of the family members for our wrongdoings. This is the tradition of faith and gratitude for Muslims. Then, we visited some of family and friends till night comes. We chit-chat about lots of things, sometimes about life, work and our studies, because the only time that we all can meet up is during Raya.

Last day before going back, I had to say a goodbye to my grandparents because we have work that needs to be done. I did cry a bit since we barely had a long holiday. Then, on the way back home, I stopped by my aunt's and uncle's house. They served us laksa, rice and many more desserts. I ate a lot till my tummy got bloated.

To conclude this week, we get to gather with our big family, which is such a blessing. We laugh, cry and gossip until midnight, and the house is so lit up and filled with laughter. Literally the best week of the year.
